The commemorative monument is a very simple eclectic style complex, made up of two bodies in a prismatic shape with square bases. The monument is waterproofed with bricks.
In 1930 an obelisk was completed in homage to the Battle of Peralejo, and its leader, Major General Antonio Maceo Grajales. The construction was financed by the Antonio Maceo Masonic Lodge, from Santiago de Cuba. The inscription reads:
“Peralejo”
“Cuban Freemasonry, by initiative and under the respectable auspices of the General Antonio Maceo lodge, is honored to pay tribute to Venerable Brother Antonio Maceo.
Leaving evidence of having been consecrated in this place.
To honor his memory, a bust and a commemorative plaque of his heroic and immortal deed are placed”.
