Loma de Braulio

The hill of Braulio Curuneaux is accessed through a paved road that includes a park, from which there is a short walk to the obelisk and the tombs.

Guisa is the scene of one of the decisive battles of the Rebel Army, commanded by the leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro, who personally directed this action.

Martí's death, Sunday, May 19, 1895, was a definitive fact of that combat.  Cuba lost one of his most illustrious sons there, the winner of a thousand battles in the field of ideas, who, by irony of fate, fell in a possible skirmish.

So we consider Manuel Sanguily's interpretation very fair when he said: "I always see him standing on the pedestal of his great platform, the platform of the Revolution and of justice, instilling the faith that encourages and saves."

Loma de piedra

Known as Loma de Piedra, it was the ideal place for the Spanish army to station soldiers to control the entrance and exit to the town,  that is why important battles took place here, being also a decisive strategic point for the victory of the Battle of Guisa, developed from November 20 to 30, 1958 and directed by Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.
