Casa Céespedes

The property witnessed the burning of the city of Bayamo on January 12, 1869.  It functioned as an Institute of First and Second Teaching in the first decade of the 20th century.  On September 30, 1968, the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Birthplace Museum was inaugurated, which exhibits valuable collections of the noble patrician, and others belonging to Ana de Quesada and Candelaria Acosta.

The construction of the walls of the old officers' club dates back to the first half of the 20th century;  the tile floors preserve the image of its time. In the first half of the 19th century, the Zarragoytía tower was located, a place that influenced the popular imagination of Bayames, a product of the licentious life exhibited by its owner, and inspired poetry and reviews of legends.

The most beautiful legends are woven around this part of the town: the Green Cross and David and Saul, their favorite biblical characters, have inspired verses and songs.  The celebrations that take place here originate from the very foundation of the town, reaching great notoriety the festivals of San Blas and San Blas Chiquito.

villa San Salvador
